Community Guidelines
Your alias is a space to be more honest, not to cause harm: these guidelines apply in chats, profiles, stories and questions, and anyone who breaks them loses their account.
1. Respect other people’s decisions
- Each person decides whether to reply, whether to continue the conversation, whether to reveal themselves, what they share about themselves and what content they receive.
- A «no», silence, a block or a change of mind is not an invitation to insist. Writing again and again to someone who does not want to talk is harassment.
- Do not pressure anyone to reveal themselves.
2. Treat people well
- No threats, intimidation, blackmail or extortion.
- No insults, humiliation or harassment, and no encouraging others to harass.
- No hate or discrimination based on gender, orientation, origin, religion, disability, age or any other characteristic. Disagreeing with someone does not justify attacking them.
3. Consent, always
- Being adults-only does not mean anything goes.
- Do not send sexual content to someone who did not ask for it, and do not keep sexualizing someone who asked you to stop.
- Do not repeatedly ask for sexual photos or threaten to share intimate content.
- Never share intimate images of another person without their permission.
- Öther you! is not a place to distribute pornography. We may automatically hide or remove explicit material.
4. Respect privacy
- Do not try to find out who is behind an alias.
- Do not post other people’s information (address, phone number, workplace, private photos) or obtain it through deception.
- Someone revealing themselves to you does not give you permission to spread what they showed you.
- Do not take screenshots of conversations to expose someone, and do not use what you learned here to follow, threaten or harm a person.
5. Be yourself, not someone else
- Do not pretend to be someone else, do not use stolen photos and do not create fake profiles.
- Your photo does not have to be your face, but it must never be someone else’s face.
- Using your alias is not impersonation: impersonation is pretending to be a specific real person or deceiving others to cause harm.
6. No scams, spam or illegal activity
- No scams, requests for money, misleading links, phishing or viruses.
- No mass messages, advertising, chain messages, bots or tricks to gain visibility.
- No selling drugs, weapons or sexual services, and no human trafficking, terrorism or threats of violence.
- No content that promotes self-harm.
7. Zero tolerance for anything involving minors
Öther you! is for people aged 18 and over only. Any sexual content involving minors, or any attempt to contact a minor for sexual purposes, is removed, the account is closed permanently and the authorities are informed (Part 4).
8. If something is wrong
- Mute: you stop getting notifications from that person.
- Block: they disappear from your App and cannot write to you. They are not notified.
- Report: our team reviews it and your report is confidential.
- If you are in danger, call emergency services (in Chile, 133). If you are going through a hard time, in Chile you can call Salud Responde (600 360 7777) or *4141.
9. What we do
Depending on the severity: a warning, removal of the content, limited features, suspension or permanent closure. Serious violations can lead to the account being closed immediately and without prior notice. You can ask for a review at info@ötheryou.com.
Moderation and safety
Safety at Öther you! works in layers and always on the registered account: changing your photo or username, or not revealing yourself, does not erase anything.
1. The layers
- Prevention: photos and audio only after 4 messages and with permission; you decide who can write to you; photos you receive arrive blurred.
- Automatic filter: checks texts before they are sent and may check photos when they are uploaded.
- Reports: anyone can report an account, a conversation or a piece of content.
- Review with context: when there is a report, we look at what was reported and whatever part of the conversation is needed to understand it.
- Human review in important cases before serious sanctions.
- Sanctions on the account, which stay with it even if the profile changes.
No single layer catches everything on its own.
2. Photos
Photos may be checked by automated systems, our own or from specialized providers, that detect explicit sexual material, exploitation, graphic violence or other risks. Depending on the result, the photo is allowed, limited, blocked or removed, reviewed manually, or the account is sanctioned.
3. Private conversations
We do not treat every private conversation as an incident. Only when there is a report do we review what is reasonably necessary to understand it: the reported messages and their context, to detect harassment, threats, coercion, unwanted sexual behavior, exploitation, scams, hate or persistent unwanted contact.
4. What can be reported
An account, a conversation, a piece of content, inappropriate photos, harassment, threats, unwanted sexual behavior, impersonation, scams, risks to minors or any other violation. We review according to severity and risk.
5. Blocking
Blocking immediately cuts off contact between the two accounts. Creating another account to get around a block is a violation.
6. Possible outcomes
- No violation: The information does not show a violation; no action is taken.
- Warning: We explain the rule and warn you.
- Content removed: That content is deleted or no longer shown.
- Feature limited: You lose a feature for a period of time or permanently.
- Temporary suspension: You cannot sign in for a defined period.
- Permanent closure: For serious or repeated violations.
- Report to authorities: When the law requires it or there is a serious risk, we keep the information and hand it over.
7. Automated systems make mistakes
A filter can fail both ways: not catching something does not make it acceptable, and flagging something does not prove a violation. Before a significant sanction there may be human review, and you can always ask for one.
8. What we do not publish
We explain how moderation works in general, but we do not publish exact rules, thresholds or detection techniques, because they would help people get around them.
